The Matching question asks participants to match statements with answers (a country and its capital, a concept and its definition, etc.). Grading is automatic.

Create a Matching question

  1. On the Build tab, click Add at the bottom of the section and choose Matching.

  2. Enter the instructions in place of Question name.

  3. In Pairs, fill in each row: the statement on the left, the correct answer on the right. Click Add a pair to add more (2 pairs minimum).

  4. Optional: in Distractors, click Add a distractor to offer answers that do not match any statement.

  5. Optional: enable Reusable answers if the same answer can match several statements.

Participants drag each answer to the matching statement, or, on mobile, tap a statement and then an answer.

Grading

Each statement counts as one multiple-choice selection: the question follows the exam’s MCQ grading scheme (classic or discordance scoring). See Standard MCQ grading scheme

The Matching question is available for online exams only.
